deadly shootings, s.w.a.t. of theres descended on the home at 13th avenue and east 20th street. at the same time, teams -- served high risk warrants at three other homes in east oakland. they arrested four suspects in a deadly shooting outside of a birthday party in late january. one man was killed. today's raid was carried out peacefully. >> when we do serve high risk warrants, we want to do so in a manner that he reduces the likelihood of any lethal encounter. object objectives when we go into these situations is to safely make these arrests. >> police are still searching for a suspect. >> >> governor jerry brown said he will help fight the skyrocketing crime rate where he once served as mayor. he got an earful about violence, coming up at 6:00, the promises the governor made.

the d.a.'s office said the 28- year-old charged with misdemeanor assault. police say jessie and his boyfriend went on a rampage. jason jessie is due back in court december 4th >> in a story we first told you about sunday night, new plans to confront east bay high school students about a sex fantasy tom daschle -- male athletes who draft female students into their fantasy team and rack up points based on their sexual conquest. this came to light during a recent school assembly on date rape and it may have been going on for years.

the five tornadoes that touched down across the sacramento valley yesterday came close to setting a state record. national weather service said the twisters tied a single day record dating back to 196. what you are looking at is video of a funnel cloud yesterday afternoon. no one was hurt from the tornadoes, but they did cause

some damage. mike is in elk grove to show us some of the mess they left behind. mike? >> this storm was so violent it knocked down all of these trees and and entire fence line along with suburban street. the woman that lives inside of this house tells me she's glad to be alive and that he no one was harmed. >> i have been in sacramento all of my, never seen anything like this. never. >> reporter: she couldn't believe the damage to her home. tall trees were snapped in half like tooth picks after a tornado touched down at her house shortly before 5:00 last night. >> i came down the street and sawal all of the americansy equip machine, i'm like what >> >> reporter: the tornado damaged 52 homes in all, including this man's.

>> we the whole house felt like a suckion and it was shaking, shaking, shaking and boom, that was it. >> reporter: a survey team from the national weather service inspected it today and determined this damage was caused by an ef1 tornado. >> a lot of roofs out, trees down, fairly large trees snapped over and the way that the debris is lined up on the ground, it's indicating to us it's a rotating storm. we are estimating the wind that did this kind of damage between 90-100-miles an hour. >> >> reporter: the survey team called the tornado unusual, but not unheard of in the valley. i talked to a number of residences who moved here from the midwest, one from kansas and the other from indiana, and they say are used to he seeing tornadoes where they came up, but not expected nothing like that here.

meanwhile, detroit tigers arrived here about three hours ago. they also have a light workout and they do remember and understand and appreciate just what the giants did in this postseason, winning six elimination games and tomorrow's game one pitcher, justin perlander for the detroit tigers is the same pitcher that gave up five in the beginning of the all-star game in july. so, berlander's bad inning lead the national league to victory and itment they would have the home field advantage for this world series. >> yes, we do. he deserves it. he is the best pitcher in the game right now >> i tried to he throw the ball
